BYD has decided to launch new affordable Electric Vehicle in India after successful performance of its model like eMAX 7, Atto 3 and Seal, . BYD Seagull is expected to available in first quarter of 2025. Seagull has become one of the most awaited EV in Indian market for many reason.

The car will have have 2 variants based on battery pack.
THe base model with 30kWh battery pack and 72PS electric motors could offer a range of up to 305km.
Higher model with 38kWh battery pack and 100PS electric motors may deliver a range of up to 405km.
Features
Car will be equipped with features like big touchscreen system, reverse camera, fully digital driver’s display and wireless phone charging.
Competition
BYD Seagull will compete with Tata Tiago EV, Tata Tigor EV, Citroen eC3 and MG Comet. Among these cars Tata Tiago and Tigor has become successful in marking their presence on Indian roads.
Conculsion
BYD has been in forefront in area of research and development on battery packs. Their Batteries are second the none and it has grabbed the attention of all the major market players. Launch of affordable hatchback in India can cause major disruption. However, the car makers have Chinese origin. Indians have time and again showed their determination in boycotting products from China. It would be amazing to watch how company tackles this problem.
If BYD Seagull overcomes above problem about origin, it has potential of overthrowing all the existing car in its segment.
